Creative and Dreams Music Network, LLC and Fred Cannon are proud to welcome Peter Jenner.
The name Peter Jenner is synonymous with British rock music. During an illustrious career that has spanned more than forty years, he has managed such luminaries as Pink Floyd, Tyrannosaurus Rex, (fronted by Marc Bolan), The Clash and Kevin Ayers, and managed and produced Syd Barrett, Roy Harper, The Edgar Broughton Band and Ian Dury – to name just a few!
Originally from Bath, UK, Peter Jenner gained a First Class Honours Degree in Economics at Cambridge University, and at age twenty-one, became a lecturer at the London School of Economics. Four years later the music business beckoned, when Peter and his friend and business partner, Andrew King, discovered the then unknown Pink Floyd playing at London’s Marquee Club. Together they formed a management and promotion agency, Blackhill Enterprises, and in addition to Pink Floyd, built an impressive roster of artists. During this time, Peter was also instrumental in concert production, including the Royal Festival Hall performance, in 1968, of Indian sitar maestro, Ustad Vilayat Khan, and the original London Hyde Park free concerts, which culminated in the appearance of The Rolling Stones in 1969. In addition to continued management and production, Peter also found the time to lend his music expertise and knowledge to EMI, working from 1969 to 1974 as a consultant on the development of their ‘underground’ label, Harvest Records.
In 1983, Peter formed Sincere Management, a management and music industry consulting firm, which he continues to run to this day. Hank Wangford, Robyn Hitchcock, Michael Franti (in Disposable Heroes of Hiphopricy, and Spearhead), Baaba Maal and Eddi Reader are among the artists he has managed at Sincere. He continues to manage Billy Bragg, and has done so for more than twenty-five years.
In recent times, Peter Jenner has become very active and vocal on the copyright challenges faced in the digital age, and works as an advocate for securing artists’ rights and income. He travels the world as a speaker and lecturer. He is a member and consultant of numerous national and international music industry bodies, involved with music business development, that represent the interests of managers and artists worldwide. He is the founding director of the Music Managers’ Forum, (MMF), an association of UK music managers, and co-founder, Chairman, and now President Emeritus of the International Music Managers’ Forum (IMMF). In addition, he is also a regular blog contributor for MIDEM/MIDEMNET, the world’s largest music industry trade fair held annually in France.
