Creative and Dreams Music Network, LLC and Fred Cannon, KCHS are proud to welcome the talented Marc Frigo.
Marc Frigo is a multi-platinum mixer, recording engineer, and
producer based out of Nashville, TN. He has been in the industry since 1990,
and has worked on projects with many top artists, such as The Indigo Girls,
Jewel, Dez Dickerson (of Prince & the Revolution,) K.T. Oslin, Nelson
(Matthew & Gunnar,) Erin O’Donnell, Jackie Chain, Israel Houghton, Letters
to Cleo, Adley Stump, and Future Leaders of the World, and has worked with
renowned producers Peter Collins, Jay Joyce, and Alain Mallet to name just a few.
Marc began his career in 1990 in his hometown of Chicago, but moved to
Nashville in 1991, where he became a staff engineer at Woodland Studios. During
this time, he was able to work with and learn from some of the best engineers,
producers, and musicians in the world.
By early 1992, Marc was working on major label projects with top artists every
day. A few of his mentors who taught him the art of recording and mixing were
David Leonard (Prince & the Revolution, The Indigo Girls, Rush) Steve
Marcantonio (J. Geils Band, Taylor Swift, Steven Tyler) and Chuck Ainlay (Mark
Knopfler, Wynona Judd, Miranda Lambert.)
His early years in Nashville saw him working as an assistant engineer on
projects with Bob Seger, The Indigo Girls, Michael McDonald, Keith Urban, The
Divinyls, John Fogerty, Tammy Wynette, Nanci Griffith, Dolly Parton, Gillian
Welch, Larry Carlton, Delbert McClinton, Lyle Lovett, Johnny Cash, Vince Gill,
Wynona Judd, Kelly Willis, Alison Krauss, Patty Loveless, etc.
These same projects had Marc working with renowned producers such as Don Was,
Peter Collins, Michael Omartian, Josh Leo, T-Bone Burnett, Tony Brown, Monty
Powell, Kyle Lehning, and Jay Joyce, as well as top engineers including Bill
Schnee, Shelly Yakus, David Leonard, Steve Marcantonio, Ross Hogarth, Kevin
Shirley, Chuck Ainlay, and Bob Bullock.
His work as an assistant engineer prepared him to ultimately take the helm as
first engineer with some of these same producers and artists. During the Indigo
Girls “Shaming of the Sun,” working with producer Peter Collins, Marc
engineered some tracking and overdub sessions. Later, Peter Collins called Marc
to work with him on overdubs for a Jewel project, resulting in the single
version of “You Were Meant For Me.”
The late 90’s also had Marc engineering on sessions with Jay Joyce producing
for K.T. Oslin’s “My Roots Are Showing,” and again teaming up with
Jay for sessions on The Borrowers self-titled release.
Some other engineering highlights were working with Israel Houghton on his
debut album, “Whisper It Loud,” working with producer Alain Mallet on
a release for Erin O’Donnell, and engineering some sessions for various Nelson
releases.
Marc also recorded and mixed the song “Larry Boy” featuring Dove Award winning
recording artist Nicole C. Mullen for the popular “Veggie Tales” video series
for children. This song sold not only multi-platinum in its various forms, but
ultimately went diamond, selling in excess of 10 million copies.
Marc continues to work with artists from all over the world,
mixing, recording, and producing in many different genres.
His goal is to always serve the artist, serve the song, and serve the music. He
is passionate about helping artists get amazing, world-class mixes and
productions of their music that are filled with emotion, energy, and
excitement, and he believes that every part of the production, from
arrangement, performance, and recording, right through the mix and final
master, should be an extension of the emotion of the song and the artist’s
vision.
Marc’s contact information, samples of his work, and other info can be found on
