Jimmie Crawford was one of Nashville’s greatest steel guitar players. During his long career, he performed on the great country music stages across the country, from the Wheeling Jamboree in West Virginia to the Grand Ole Opry. For many years, he worked as a road musician with Johnny Wright, Kitty Wells, George Jones, Buck Owens, Johnny Paycheck and Loretta Lynn. Jimmie also wrote great instrumentals that were recorded by Chet Atkins, Lloyd Green, Doug Jernigan and others, and was involved in the design and technical innovations of the steel pedal.
When Jimmie grew tired of life on the road, he became a full-time studio musician. His innovative steel guitar solos can be heard on sessions with Loretta Lynn, Slim Whitman, Radney Foster, Dolly Parton, the Osborne Brothers, Chet Atkins, Ray Griff and many artists produced by Pete Drake. Pete Drake was one of Jimmie’s biggest fans and asked him to record this CD for the First Generation Label.
