Anna Louise Tayler is the author of The Adventures of Smokey and Friends, a charming and delightful series of children’s books featuring Smokey, a white, Welsh mountain pony, and his friends Portia, a posh, Persian cat, and Balou, a happy go lucky, Hungarian Vizsla dog.
These magical, mystery stories were inspired by, and feature, the real life animals that were part of Anna’s childhood and family. Each of the stories stress the importance of friendship and the confidence, strength and support it instils – something Anna has witnessed firsthand while working with children.
She trained at the Hornsby International Dyslexia Centre, in London, where she gained the Hornsby International Diploma under the authority of Dr. Dorota Zdzienski founder of the Pico Educational Systems Ltd for teaching young children. She also has an NNEB Certificate in childcare and education. Born in Colchester, England, Anna Louise Tayler grew up surrounded by creativity. Her mother was an internationally renowned designer of children’s clothes, and mother and daughter worked together, with Anna eventually producing designs of her own that were sold in leading stores around the world and also purchased by celebrities and Royalty. She found a new creative outlet when she began to travel the world, finally settling in America for twelve years. Inspired by the vast beauty of the terrain she encountered, she took up photography. Her work was exhibited at many prestigious galleries, including the Albright Knox Art Gallery, the third largest modern art gallery in the US and one of the top fifteen in the world.
A sample of her work was purchased by the Roswell Park Cancer Institute in Buffalo, New York. Anna has also devoted her time and energy to raising money for charity, and she has sat on the boards in London with Help the Aged and The Anglo Russian Children’s Appeal.
Anna has now settled back in England where she is writing further adventures about Smokey and his friends. There are three books currently available in the series in either printed or eBook format
- Smokey and the Disappearing Fish: together with Ollie the Octopus, Smokey discovers why the fish are disappearing from the sea and devises a cunning plan to try and stop them.

- Smokey and the Secret of Christmas Magic: Smokey, Portia and Balou help Santa on Christmas Eve, and Smokey even gets to help pull Santa’s sleigh.

Anna’s website serves as the perfect companion to her books.
